Malout / Sri Muktsar Sahib, October 6: Punjab Cabinet Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development, Dr Baljit Kaur, honoured around 80 Sakhis from villages Jhorar, Khane Ki Dhab, Lakharwala, Lakhmirewala and Bhulerian for their contribution to the successful implementation of the Chief Minister Mawan Dhiyan Satikar Scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Baljit Kaur said that Sakhis have played an important role in ensuring the successful implementation of the scheme across Punjab. Their efforts have helped increase the registration of women and ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the financial assistance directly in their bank accounts.

The Cabinet Minister informed that Sakhis who worked under the scheme have already been given an honorarium of ₹5,000 each in recognition of their contribution.

She said that the Chief Minister Mawan Dhiyan Satikar Scheme is another important initiative of the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government aimed at strengthening women’s dignity, respect and self-confidence. She added that the state government remains committed to women’s welfare and empowerment and will continue working towards their betterment.

₹60 Lakh Sewerage and Water Supply Project Launched

During her visit, Dr Baljit Kaur also laid the foundation stone of development works worth ₹60 lakh in village Danewala.

The project includes laying a water supply pipeline to provide water connectivity to the Rai Sikh settlements (Dhanis). It also includes the installation of sewerage pipelines for proper wastewater drainage in Danewala Chak, Sito Road and Dabwali Road.

Several local representatives and party members were present on the occasion, including District Women Wing President Parminder Kaur, Paramjit Kaur Phulewala, Ashu Rani, Organisation In-charge Vikrant Khurana, PAs Arshdeep Sidhu and Shinder Pal Singh, Parwinder Singh and Lovely Sandhu Lakharwala.
