Bathinda, April 6

Under Mission Pragati, the program launched by the Punjab Government to provide free coaching for competitive examinations, the second batch of 62 youngsters was inaugurated today at the District Library.

Speaking with the youngsters enrolled in the new batch, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Rajesh Dhiman said that Mission Pragati is proving to be a boon for young people. He added that young people from Bathinda and nearby districts are coming here for free coaching.

He appreciated the students who come from nearby districts by bus every morning, study here throughout the day, and return in the evening. He said that for recruitment to the Punjab Police, Punjab Police/Army, or paramilitary forces, passing the written exam is not enough. Physical training and fitness are also essential. To help candidates clear the physical test, expert coaches have been providing free physical training at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sports Stadium since March 9 and this training is held free of charge from 5 to 6 p.m.

He also said that in the first phase of the project, a batch of 40 children was started, and 6 of those students have already been selected for government jobs. Mr. Dhiman added that experienced teachers, including two retired teachers from the Education Department, are preparing the children for competition examinations. He further said that youngsters can borrow competitive-exam books directly from the library for study.
