Ahmedabad, October 14, 2026: AI technology startup Redapto has secured first prize in Category 1 of Phase 1 of the Gujarat Police Innovation Challenge 2026 – Sentinel Hackathon, winning a cash award of ₹4 lakh for its AI-powered platform designed to support police investigations and improve public safety.
The startup is led by co-founders Anirudh Pupneja and Arnav Naresh Borkar. The hackathon was held on October 12 and 13 at i-Hub Gujarat in Ahmedabad, bringing together students, researchers, startups and established technology companies working on innovative solutions for policing.
Redapto Recognised for AI-Powered Police Investigation Platform
Redapto developed its platform in response to the challenge’s problem statement, focusing on the use of artificial intelligence to help law enforcement agencies analyse evidence, monitor locations and connect information across criminal investigations.
The platform integrates CCTV surveillance with AI-assisted monitoring and investigative tools. These capabilities are designed to help police trace suspects, identify possible connections between separate criminal cases and link evidence collected from different incidents.
By bringing together information that may otherwise remain scattered across multiple sources, the platform aims to make investigations more efficient and help officers interpret complex evidence.
Digital Twin and 3D Crime Scene Reconstruction
One of the key features of Redapto’s platform is its digital twin capability, which creates a digital representation of a monitored area using CCTV feeds. This can support real-time monitoring, situational awareness and a better understanding of activity within a particular location.
The platform also offers 3D crime-scene reconstruction capabilities. Using collected evidence, investigators can examine spatial relationships and assess possible sequences of events to gain a clearer understanding of how an incident may have unfolded.
Together, these tools aim to help law enforcement agencies make better use of surveillance footage and investigative evidence.
Over 1,000 Solutions Submitted for Sentinel Hackathon
The Sentinel Hackathon attracted participation from across India, with organisers reporting representation from 17 states and 30 major cities. Finalists were selected from more than 1,000 submitted solutions.
Category 1 was dedicated to small and medium-sized startups and student teams, providing a platform for emerging innovators to present technology-based solutions to real-world policing challenges.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, while Gujarat Director General of Police G. S. Malik also addressed participants.
Other senior officials present included Mukesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary for Higher and Technical Education; Sanjeev Kumar, Principal Secretary for Home; Anupam Singh Gehlot, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner; and Narsimha Komar, Vadodara Police Commissioner.
Gujarat Police Focuses on AI for Smarter Policing
The initiative reflects Gujarat’s efforts to explore artificial intelligence and emerging technologies for practical policing requirements.
During the closing ceremony, Harsh Sanghavi emphasised the importance of reducing routine workloads and saving police personnel’s working hours through technological innovation. G. S. Malik highlighted the role of crime prevention and real-time alerts in strengthening law enforcement.
The hackathon is intended to encourage technology developers to create solutions that address operational challenges faced by police departments.
Phase 2 to Test Solutions Using Real CCTV Feeds
Following the completion of Phase 1, the challenge will move to the Phase 2 Production Round. Selected teams will be required to integrate their solutions with real CCTV feeds at scale, with their performance evaluated by Gujarat Police leadership and a technical jury.
The next stage could provide a pathway towards potential statewide deployment for successful solutions. The broader initiative aims to connect more than 80,000 cameras across Gujarat, although wider implementation will depend on subsequent evaluation and selection.
Redapto’s first-place finish marks an important milestone for the startup as it advances in a challenge focused on applying AI to public safety and investigative operations.
