Transparent election of Zila Parishad Chairperson and Vice Chairman
Manjit Kaur Chairperson and Guriqbal Singh Vice Chairman were elected

As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Mr. B. Srinivasan, the election of Chairperson and Vice Chairman of Zila Parishad Bathinda was conducted by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Mr. Led by Rajdeep Singh Brar.It took place peacefully and transparently. During this election Mrs. Manjit Kaur Chairperson and Mr. Guriqbal Singh was elected Vice Chairman.
Disclosing this here today Secretary Zilla Parishad Mr. Harjinder Singh Jassal said that the seat of Chairperson of Bathinda Zila Parishad was reserved for women and the seat of Vice Chairman was General.
He further said that Zila Parishad Bathinda has a total of 25 members out of which one member has died.A total of 23 members participated in the election while one member was absent.Voting had to be held for the election when there was no consensus among the members.
The Zila Parishad Secretary further said that Manjit Kaur (Bhuchon Kalan Zone) and Sukhpal Kaur (Behman Deewana Zone) were in the fray for the election of Chairperson. During the voting, Manjit Kaur got 12 votes and Sukhpal Kaur got 11 votes. Thus Manjit Kaur was elected Chairperson with 1 vote more.
Similarly, for the seat of Vice-Chairman, voting had to be held when there was no consensus among the members.In which Guriqbal Singh (Jai Singh Wala Zone) and Paramjit Kaur (Kuttiwal Kalan Zone) emerged as candidates. During the voting, Guriqbal Singh got 13 votes and Paramjit Kaur got 10 votes.Thus Guriqbal Singh got 3 more votes and was elected Vice Chairman.
