PATIALA POLICE ARRESTS SINGER & LYRICIST SHREE BRAR FOR GLORIFYING LAWLESSNESS AND VIOLENCET

PATIALA, JANUARY 5:
Sending a strong signal to the singers and lyricists, glorifying lawlessness in their songs, Patiala Police have arrested a singer and lyricist Shree Brar @ Pawandeep Singh today from Mohali.
Divulging the details, SSP Vikram Jeet Duggal said that the said singer had launched a song ‘JAAN’ on youtube with provocative lyrics promoting violence and antisocial acts to the extent of even providing shelter to the criminals and gangsters and encouraging them for Jail Breaks. The lyrics of the song very much encourage youth to commit crimes and antisocial acts
SSP said that an FIR against the singer under Sections 3 of Police Incitement to Disaffection Act 1922, Section 500, 501, 502, 505, 115, 116, 120-B of IPC had been registered at Civil Lines Police Station Patiala on January 3 this year
The case is being investigated by team lead by SP City Varun Sharma, SP Investigation Harmeet Singh Hundal and DSP Investigation, KK Panthey.
Mr. Duggal said that the singer Brar was arrested by CIA staff Patiala from Sector-91, Mohali today. He said that the song sung by him was aimed at misleading the common man and the youth as well as inciting them to commit heinous crimes. At the same time, it promotes total lawlessness in the society where the law takes a back seat and gangsters and antisocial elements come forward with their activities detrimental to the society at large
Such songs inflict fear among the society as the people lose faith the law and order agencies and the government. Therefore, such provocative messages and literature draw very strict legal action. As such lyrics are detrimental to the peace and order, they will not be tolerated at any cost and law will take its own course while dealing with the persons scripting such lyrics. No one will be allowed to promote violence and gang culture and stringent action will be taken as per law against all those who encourage lawlessness and criminal activities in the society
