Hemant Soren’s Delhi Residence: 2 BMWs and Rs 36 lakh Cash Seized as He Remains Unreachable.

 

Late Monday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) confiscated two BMWs, incriminating documents, and Rs 36 lakh cash from Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s official residence in Delhi. Sources indicated that Soren was unavailable for questioning as he was not present at home and was reported as “missing.”

On Monday morning, Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials arrived at the Delhi residence of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren regarding a money laundering investigation related to a purported land scam. As Soren was absent, the officials remained stationed outside for 13 hours, conducting searches on the premises.

Sources indicate that Enforcement Directorate (ED) teams are monitoring Delhi airport for the potential arrival of Hemant Soren.

Departing Ranchi for Delhi on January 27, Hemant Soren cited personal reasons, intending to return promptly, though the BJP’s Jharkhand faction raised concerns.

Allegedly missing for 18 hours, they feared ED repercussions, petitioning Governor CP Radhakrishnan about the state’s integrity. Earlier, on January 20, the ED had interrogated Soren.

Moreover, agency subsequently issued fresh summons last week, scheduling questioning sessions for Soren on either January 29 or 31.

According to the ED, the investigation revolves around a “significant racket involving illicit land ownership transfers orchestrated by the mafia” in Jharkhand.

In a letter dated January 29, Soren notified the ED of his plan to attend questioning at his residence at 1 pm on January 31.

He labeled the money laundering probe a “fishing expedition” with political motivations. The 48-year-old leader accused the central agency of conducting a smear campaign, alleging inaccurate media leaks.
