Farmers to hold candle march at Shambhu, Khanauri borders today.

Farmers to hold candle march at Shambhu, Khanauri borders today. The farmers’ protest has been paused for two days after the incident resulting in death and serious injuries. 

On Saturday, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher announced that the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and SKM (non-political) will organize a candlelight march at both Shambhu and Khanauri borders in the evening to honor the martyrs.

He stated:

“Today marks the 12th day of the protests at Shambhu and Khanauri. Yesterday, the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and SKM (non-political) agreed to conduct a candlelight march at both borders this evening, in remembrance of the martyrs.” 

Farmers participated in a candlelight vigil on Friday. Honoring a farmer who reportedly died in police action at the Khanauri border during their ‘Delhi Chalo‘ march, at the Punjab-Haryana Shambhu border in Patiala district. 

On Wednesday, Shubhkaran Singh succumbed to an injury at the back of his neck during a protest at the Khanauri border. Leading farm leaders to halt discussions with the Center. 

On the other hand, On Thursday, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait announced that:

Additionally, the protesting farmers, under the leadership of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), will observe a ‘Black Friday‘, in response to the farmer’s death at the Khanauri Border crossing in Sangrur district, Punjab, amidst the ongoing protests. 

In the meantime, the farmers have suspended their ‘Dilli Chalo‘ protest march for two days to assess the current situation at the Shambhu border in Haryana. On the other hand, Further decisions will be made accordingly. As stated the general secretary of the Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee on Thursday.

Upcoming Events as Stated by Sarwan Singh Pandher:

Sarwan Singh Pandher said:

“After this, on February 25th, we will have a convention on both borders.

On the morning of February 26th, biers of WTO, corporate houses, and governments will be burned. In the afternoon, at both borders, over 20ft tall effigies will be burned.

Whereas, On February 27th, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, SKM (non-political) will hold a meeting of all its leaders from across the country.

On February 28th, both forums will convene and hold discussions. On February 29th, the next steps will be decided.”

Postponement of Shubhkaran Singh’s Cremation Amidst Calls for Justice:

Farm leaders have asserted that the cremation of Shubhkaran Singh. Youngster who lost his life amidst clashes between Haryana Police and Punjab farmers. Additionally, It will be postponed until the Punjab government files a case against those deemed responsible.

Sarwan Singh Pandher alleged:

“An FIR under Section 302 IPC should be lodged against those accountable for the farmer’s demise. We will not perform the last rites of the deceased until justice is served. The Haryana police and paramilitary personnel involved in the shooting must be held accountable.”

Subhkaran Singh, aged 21 and hailing from Bathinda, tragically passed away on Wednesday at the Khanauri border point during the ongoing agitation.
