Drainage of village waste water will be ensured- Deputy Commissioner
Expenditure on cleaning of ponds through MNREGS is about Rs. 332.90 lakhs with
126578 workers getting employment.

The state government is taking special measures for the cleaning of ponds in the villages. This information was given by the Deputy Commissioner Mr. B. Srinivasan (IAS).
Disclosing this here today District Development and Panchayat Officer Mr. Harjinder Singh Jassal said that the Department of Rural Development and Panchayats had conducted the cleaning of ponds in the month of May-June of the year 2020-21 through MNREGS labourers on priority. There are 314 Gram Panchayats and presently there are about 724 ponds in district. Out of these 562 ponds were planned to be discharged, out of which 556 ponds have been discharged.
Disclosing this here today Mr. Deepak Dhingra, District Coordinator, MNREGS said that cleaning of 99 ponds in the district was started through MNREGS, out of which cleaning of 19 ponds has been completed at a cost of Rs. 332.90 lakhs. The cleaning work of the remaining 80 ponds is in progress, which will be completed soon.
He said a total of 126578 MNREGS labourers have been hired to complete the work of cleaning the ponds.
