Hyderabad, June 28 – A blast at a glass factory in Ranga Reddy district, Telangana, resulted in five deaths and ten injuries on Friday, according to police. The explosion occurred around 4:30 PM in a furnace at the Shadnagar factory, likely due to overheating. The blast’s impact was significant, affecting individuals up to 20-30 meters away.
The injured were rushed to hospitals, with one reported in serious condition. Approximately 100 people were in the factory during the incident. TV footage revealed the severe aftermath, including dismembered body parts. A trade union leader indicated that many victims were from other states, such as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed officials to provide necessary medical treatment to the injured and ensure coordination among revenue, police, fire, labour, industries, and health departments for relief measures. BRS Working President K T Rama Rao expressed condolences and urged the state government to conduct a safety audit and review disaster management plans in all industrial areas. Preliminary reports initially mentioned 15 injuries.
