Mr. Gejja Ram Valmiki, Chairman, Sweepers Commission, said here that about 28,000 raw janitors and sewermen would be confirmed soon. Therefore the Punjab Government has constituted a five member committee under the able leadership of the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh. Talking to the media at the Circuit House, Bathinda, he also clarified that no janitors would be exploited by the Sweepers Commission.
Replying to a query on the occasion, the Chairman of the Sanitation Commission Mr. Geja Ram said that the Sanitation Commission was working hard to make the raw janitors permanent and abolish the contracting system. Answering another question, he said that no janitor would be allowed to be exploited by any contractor.If a contractor deducts the salary of a janitor, legal action will be taken against him. Replying to another query, he said that a five member committee comprising of Cabinet Ministers has been constituted by the Chief Minister to take up the task of consolidating the janitors.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Sanitation Commission Mr. Geja Ram had a meeting with the janitors and listened to the problems faced by them. He also lauded the work being done by the janitors during the Corona epidemic. Encouraging the janitors, he also affixed the badge of Mission Fateh and declared them the real warriors of the Young who fought against the Corona. Mr. Ram Singh Sardulgarh, Vice Chairman Sanitation Commission and Mr. Lakha Singh Valtoha were specially present on the occasion.
